CHLEBOVICE – On 14 December 2010 it has been exactly forty years since the day when coal mining was officially launched in Chlebovice locality of the current Paskov Mine. In those days the field test of the coal face No 121 317 was commenced in seam No 121. In line with the then prevailing habits it was properly celebrated with the participation of prominent personalities.
But the surveying works in Staříč region started already sixty years ago. ”At that time it consisted in a single securing borehole by which the coal deposit was checked. Four years later Uhelný průzkum Ostrava drilled holes at Sviadnov,“ noted Zbigniew Janowski, the chief engineer of Paskov Mine, and the surveying went on until 1960.
Once the deposits were properly assessed, Báňské projekty Ostrava started to prepare the dossier for the construction of a shaft. The works on the pit mouth at Chlebovice and Staříč were commenced simultaneously in 1962. The then Staříč Mine was connected to Chlebovice, Staříč and Sviadnov localities. In 1994 it was transformed into Paskov Mine. “At present two or three faces are being mined in Chlebovice mining field. Naturally, with the use of ploughs. About ten working faces are driven here,“ concluded Janowski.
