Once again, the management of the Service Centre offered to the mining apprentices from the Secondary School of Technology and Services in Karviná an opportunity of a two-week brigade in the ground mechanical workshops at the CSM mine, but also at the CSA or Darkov mines. About fifty future mechanics or electricians for mining operations took advantage of this offer.
Václav Kopta, the Service Centre manager, believes that brigades are an appropriate way to create strong links between the trainees and their future employer. "It's a great opportunity for them to improve their practical knowledge and experience, and to demonstrate their interest in the work for our company through their attitude their job duties," he said.
Kamil Doffek of the CSM mine explained what trainees can expect from the brigade: "We have prepared for them work that will deepen their metalwork skills, both mechanical as well as manual. Furthermore, they will improve the aesthetics of the environment of our mechanical workshops and their surroundings. I believe that the holiday brigade will benefit both the workplace and the apprentices, and that all the involved parties will be satisfied.“
Vladimir Varga, a second-year student, shared his view of the holiday brigade: "I enrolled for it last year as well and I really enjoyed it. I had the opportunity to try what I can do and I learned many new things. I am glad to be able to have access to the workplace and to gain practical experience. I will work with employees whom I know." A first-year apprentice, Michael Borys, offers a different view: "Because next year I will do practical training in mechanical workshops, I welcomed the offer of OKD for a brigade there. I am pleased to get closer to the production process and to get acquainted with the workshop and my future collaborators.“
