Future mine mechanics for the first time visited underground

2.11.2011

Mining teams already waiting for them and they are also looking forward to work. Mining mechanics who study their future profession at the High School of Technology and Services in Karviná went down in 21st October for the first time in their lives, to look work areas where they will work after they finish the school. Two groups went down to ČSM mine, one to ČSA shaft of Karvina Mine. Stay in the mine was interesting for them, but not very surprising.

"I am already working with the mining machines as a part of practice at the workshop in Lazy Service Center, so I already know much of them," Martin Komínek (18) from Orlová said. Boys already had a lot of information from the miners about how is it looks "down in the mine". "I would say that going down fulfilled ideas that I've had," commented the fact another apprentice, Martin Jano from Karvina.

In the third year of the High School of Technology and Services, 36 boys are preparing themselves for the occupation of miner. Nine of them chose mine electrician as their profession, twenty-seven chose mine mechanics. Seven of them, with assistance of local technicians, seen 01196 crosscut road heading at the level of 11th floor at a depth of about 930 meters.

On the way to work, the boys visited the facility of the pit, mine locomotives and other equipment shafts. They were surprised by the tidiness which governs the mine, looked with curiosity at the guys who might be their next colleagues.

"We thought it would be worse, but it was quite nice and interesting," said after returning to the surface when the stress was over. Stanislav Wizur, Deputy of Economic and Personnel Director of Karvina Mine invited them for a short chat. He confirmed them that mines are interested to employ them and outlined the options that are in their profession.

"Some of you are already working in our mechanical workshop and they are smart. We believe that you fit in our teams and evaluate your theoretical knowledge in the field," Wizur was answering their nosy questions. "Working in the mining industry is a job with the perspective of 30 years and maybe more. If you are interested, you can add a high school diploma and even graduate the university," deputy persuaded.

Along with practical training teacher Milan Papesch and apprentices at Karviná mine, Iva Sandriová, Director of High School
of Technology and Services also "touched" mining conditions. "When I am talking with parents about the future career of their sons, I need
to know the environment," she explained with the fact that once in the past she already went underground.

"I have been there when I was at the age of my students. In that time, as today, I thought it is very hard work, after all, even the environment
is very demanding. Today, I look at it by the eyes of a person who is responsible. I know that the work of a miner has its difficulties, but this
applies for every job. On the other hand, this profession offers the future. When graduate wants to work in mining industry, the job is ensured. No other profession offers such us opportunity on the job market," Sandriová said.
