KARVINÁ – On Thursday, 8 April 2010, Members of the Budget Committee of the Parliament went down the Karviná Mine shaft. Having been split into two groups, the Members of Parliament visited the high Coalface 139 706 and low Coalface 163 106 in the Lazy Mine, both of them provided with technologies under the POP 2010 Programme.
“It is not any pre-election event since we have come to the Ostrava Region under the schedule of our regular meetings held outside Prague. Apart from going down the shaft, we have also visited the Regional Office and made a tour to the Vítkovice Holding premises,” the Members of Parliament specified their mission in going down the shaft to the coalface.
Whereas some of them know the miner’s job very well, many of them, including two women, went down the shaft for the first time. Both the sides were surprised, especially the first one. The politicians who had already visited a mine in the past were surprised by the state-of-the-art-technology, new personal protective equipment and OKD’s initiative in the education of mining apprentices.
