What are the strong and weak points in the existing cooperation, where lies the potential for its further development, what kind of new disciplines would be appropriate to initiate for the education system to meet the business requirements? These and many other topics were part of the meeting between K. D. Beck, OKD CEO with representatives of schools that educate future and current employees of the
only black coal company in the country.
The meeting was attended by Radim Farana, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at VŠB-TU, Vice Dean of the Mining and Geology Faculty from the same university, Iva Sandriová, director of High school of technology and services in Karviná, Česlava Lukaštíková, Director of High Industrial School in Karvina and Rudolf Toman from High School in Havířov-Šumbark.
Radka Naňáková and Libor Dürrer, representatives of OKD Human Resources, pointed to the number of apprentices, high school and university students who were educated in supported disciplines and informed representatives of schools on the expected development
and the needs of miners in relation to the lack of technically skilled work force in the labor market. In this context it is worth to note, that the new school year, through cooperation OKD and High School of Technology and Services in Karviná opportunity to study the mining industry in the new field of study called Mechanic of mining machinery and equipment. Both sides discussed the conditions and advantages for both students and schools from cooperation with OKD and tried to find a way to maximize their effectiveness.
"It's not only about students. We also support further education and increasing the skills of current employees. This year more than 50 of them complete qualification of post-secondary studies at the High Industrial School in Karviná. Desire and motivation for further education can help them in career growth," says Radka Naňáková, Deputy Director for HR.
