Record Number of Hits Received by OKD website in 2010

OSTRAVA – One of the criteria stressed by the jurors of Moderní firma 2010 competition held last fall, in which OKD company was awarded a special prize for the quality of marketing communication, was the regularly updated, clearly presented and quality information offered on the company website.

The OKD website is similarly appreciated by its users which is confirmed by the year-on-year  increase in the hit rate by 10 percent, with the record number of 185,000 hits achieved last year. Daily more than 500 users browsed the website of this mining company and throughout 2010 a total number of 132,000 unique visitors hit the website and spent over 20 minutes there on average.

“The importance of the Internet has been dynamically growing. We consider the corporate website crucial for our company to be perceived as an open and transparent entity that wishes to share the news and topical information with its employees and the general public. That is why at the beginning of this year we considerably improved the convenience of the website for its users and we also added not only new modern functions, but also newly designed presentation materials,“ stated Petra Mašínová, the Chief Public Relations and Communication Officer.

Readers can read not only the updated company profile, but primarily the new Reclamation Brochure mapping the return of landscape in specific locations to its natural condition once the mining activities are terminated.

New modern functions of OKD website

At the beginning of 2011 new interactive functions were added to OKD website which enhance the users' comfort and attractiveness for readers. Since according to the latest surveys the number of cell phones with the Internet access shall four times exceed the number of PCs this year, OKD company has produced a website version for cell phones. This version with simplified graphics makes all the content as well as functions accessible through all the common smart phones equipped with a web browser on http://mobile.okd.cz.  “Recommend this Website” function makes it possible to send a link to the browsed website, potentially with a comment, to your colleagues' or friends' e-mail address. Newly, you may also store the browsed website in the pdf format, or have them directly printed in this format. Also improved has been the search feature of OKD website, when the so called “search suggestion tool“ based on the entered initial letters shows the words with the same beginning searched for by previous visitors. Through the RSS channel the latest developments of the website can be followed.
