OSTRAVA - Few people would be aware that the place of residence of OKD Corporate Headquarters, at No. 6 Prokeš Square, is not a „commonplace building“. Rather, it is an important architectural monument dating back to the inter-war period. The ,parent’ of OKD Corporation will use the revenues to fuel its investments in Czech mining industry as well as an expansion abroad.

(NWR), the parent company, i.e., Sole Owner, of OKD Corporation, will offer its shares for trading at the stock exchanges in Prague, London, and Warsaw as soon as during the current quarter. In 2007, the company OKD increased investments up to 2,07 billion Czech Crowns compared with the last year

In the last year, the company OKD invested 2,075 billion Czech Crowns, roughly by 3% more in comparison with 2006. Today, we can say that the trend planned for 2008 will not only continue, but the plan POP 2010 will be realized – the purchase of mining machinery and driving complexes and, as we have already informed, the trend of present investments will significantly change. ... more

Tons of extracted coal and even economic results, we have informed about in the last issue, cannot be compared with the value of the health and human life. We are aware of all risks resulting from the demanding work underground where any and seemingly unimportant detail is important. The 118th national “jump over leather” began on Friday, April 27th, at 2 p.m. with an aprentice (adepts for admission to miner’s guild) procession starting from Petřkovice community house. This archaic miner’s festival was organized by OKD, Hornicko-technologická fakulta VŠB – Technická univerzita Ostrava and Hornický spolek Prokop.
