Four representatives of the world's largest mining company Peabody, which operates 12 mines in Australia and about 30 in the U.S.,
visited CSM Mine in the first day of December, along with three representatives of Sandvik, a leading supplier of technologies for mines OKD.
Mining giant Peabody sold 246 million tons of coal last year. The company operates underground and surface mines. The largest
underground mine of the company is called "20 Mile", which is located in Colorado, produced 8 million tons last year. And now be aware - in the largest surface mine in the U.S. state of Wyoming, miners mined 115 million tons of semi-soft coking coal in 30 meters seams last year!
Where donkeys were hauling the coal
Why Australian miners decided to visit our mines? The reason is simple - high technology purchased for OKD mines in POP 2010 program.
Metropolitan Mine, the oldest mine in Australia founded in 1888 is located about 50 kilometers south of Sydney, is among the developing projects of Peabody.
Its modernization with a view to implementing the latest technologies and the unique environment that surrounds this mine is the great challenge to Peabody because of the mentioned age and unique position in the second oldest national park in the world. "Mine has for example an old conveyor belt that was originally designed to for hauling the coal to the surface by donkeys. That´s why the development of this mine is the reason why we travel around and visit excellently equipped mines. CSM mine meets these parameters with everything needed," assessed the Peabody Energy Australia Vice President for development projects Gerry Brophy.
Road heading with a roadheader from POP 2010
What foreign visitors saw in CSM mine? Along with Ing. Václav Kačmařík, mechanic of the preparation and Ing. Jan Kollár, operation
manager visited road heading face 331 267, where the miners from supply company ALPEX led by Tomasz K. Pyrzyńského leader, are roadheading. Guests from Australia and the U.S. could watch road header SANDVIK MR 340, conveyor FITE-PM 800, belt conveyors DP 1200 and TA 630 and combined ventilation from CFT Company in action.
"Visiting the mine in your district was a great
benefit for us. We are leaving with the knowledge which will become our base for solving the problems we face now and we will face in the future. Of course we are open to further cooperation, and when we will be able to repay the hospitality you have given to us during our visit, we welcome you to be here in Australia," Brophy said goodbye to.
