History

The history of the Darkov mine reaches into mid-19th century. At that time a series of new mines was established, which were later included in the Darkov complex. This concerns particularly the mines Gabriela (established in 1852), Hobenegger (1880) and Austria (1898). These mines went through numerous changes, including several changes of names. In the 50’s of the previous century they became the basis for the complex of “Velkodůl 1. máje”, which was renamed to the Darkov mine on May 2, 1991. Even after 1990 there were some changes in organization. At the beginning of 1993 the plants of Darkov and Mír were combined.
