The Darkov Mine
At the present, the Darkov mine is the largest deep-mining complex in the Czech Republic. Darkov has its own washing plant with nominal capacity of 800 tons per hour. Depth
The biggest absolute depth at the Darkov mine can be found in the upcast air-shaft Mír 4, opening at 235 metres above sea level and reaching as deep as 776 metres below sea level.History
The history of the Darkov mine reaches into mid-19th century. At that time a series of new mines was established, which were later included in the Darkov complex. This concerns particularly the mines Gabriela (established in 1852), Hohenegger (1880) and Austria (1898). These mines went through numerous changes, including several changes of names. In the 50’s of the previous century they became the basis for the complex of “Velkodůl 1. máje”, which was renamed to the Darkov mine on May 2, 1991. Even after 1990 there were some changes in organization. At the beginning of 1993 the plants of Darkov and Mír were combined.
The coal reserves are estimated to last for at least 200 to 300 years, while in the case of oil it is mere 40 to 50 years, and in the case of uranium it is roughly a century. more »

Company code of ethics
The Board of Directors of OKD has adopted a Company code of ethics that is obligatory for all the employees of the firm. It defines basic values and attitudes to enterprise that OKD conforms to in the course of its business activities.
The code of ethics is not any binding rule of law or internal directive, it represents, however, a moral obligation for each employee of OKD.
