KARVINÁ MINE – The new continuous miners of Bucyrus, which are now being delivered to the OKD Mines under the Production Optimisation Programme 2010 (“POP 2010”), represent a kind of excursion into the future. At present, there are just two such machine sets in service in the Karviná Mine and the experience with them is more than good.
“I would say that they represent a generation shift at least by one degree,“ states Ivan Šrámek, Technical Deputy Director of the Karviná-Orlová Mine. “They bring a new philosophy to the mining areas. They are based on hydraulics and electronics, which allow the entire machine set to be checked by computer from a remote workplace on the surface. The mining can thus be carried out fully automatically, with minimum interventions of human hand.“
Up to now, one of the Lazy coalfaces has been equipped with such a machine set under POP 2010, which consists of six-meter support DBT 26/60, Eickhoff SL 500 power loader and PF 6/1042 wall conveyor. Under the new Project, another coalface has started to work with installed DBT 13/31 support and Eickhoff SL 300 power loader in the ČSA Mine.
The third work area in the Karviná Mine to be equipped with the new mining technology under POP 2010 will be Coalface 163 104 in Natan Seam of the Lazy Mine. The machine set base will be DBT 06/14 support and RHH-42 plough equipment to mine low seams. Its start – from the very beginning in fully automated mode – is planned for mid January.
