Itinerant Trophy “Miner’s Lamp” for the Best Results of the 2nd Quarter 2008 Gained by the ČSM Mine

OSTRAVA (pb) The OKD Top Management has announced a Contest among the mining Business Units for the best results in the areas of production, safety, trade and economics for the individual quarters in the year. The best mining plant will gain the Itinerant Trophy “Miner’s Lamp” to hold it for three months.

In the 1st Quarter 2008, the Itinerant Trophy “Miner’s Lamp” was won by the Darkov Mine for the best results. After evaluating the results achieved for the 2nd Quarter, the Itinerant Trophy “Miner’s Lamp” is moving to the ČSM Mine, which achieved the best results amongst all the mines for that period.

As the only one of the mining plants in that period, the ČSM Mine fulfilled the Business Plan in the mining area. In the occupational health & safety area, the number of registered injuries has increased and safety & health records have significantly improved. The excellent results in the mining area were also the initial base to achieve good results in the area of economics. The favourable evolution of the individual cost items has led to the fulfilment and exceeding of the business result in progress for the whole first half-year.
