HORNÍ SUCHÁ – Sandvik Mining and Construction, supplier of the most progressive advancing and driving systems for the OKD mines, put a smart foot forward towards its Czech customer.
The company opened its new offices and presented the hall in the territory of the former Mine František in Horní Suchá, where it will provide basic services for OKD mines. Klaus-Dieter Beck, Chairman of the Board of Directors and the OKD Managing Director, Leo Bayer, the Operating Manager and other representatives of the mining company took part in this event.
As informed by Andrzej Jagiełło, Chairman of the Board of the company SM&C, construction of Sandvik infrastructure in the territory of the Ostrava and Karviná coalfield is based on the General Cooperation Agreement between Sandvik and the companies OKD and NWR of 2008 and on the Service Agreement with OKD signed in 2009. Background of the Czech site is created by three offices and by the leased service hall with the handy spare part storage. Nowadays the site accommodates 12 Sandvik employees, but in the nearest future the number of employees will go up to 40 - 45 persons. These persons will be able and ready to satisfy all OKD basic service needs and the technology from the Czech mines will be transported to the core base of the company SM&C in the Polish city Tychy only if large repairs and refurbishment will be requested.
„Our priorities are the same. Construction of the Czech branch shall in particular provide conditions for safe work in the mines and operative service activities focused on maintaining high performance of all our advancing and driving systems. Location in the industrial zone in Horní Suchá has been chosen to be as close to the mines as possible,” said Jagiełło and added that from the new year one SM&C representative would be active in each mine of the Karviná part of the coalfield; this representative shall coordinate all matters connected with service and refurbishment of the technology.
Within the scope of realization of the POP 2010 programme, the company SM&C has delivered in total 13 advancing complexes, comprising the progressive MR 340 combines as the core part of the technology, for the mines in the Karviná part of the coalfield. 28 Sandvik MR 220 coal miners, delivered in the past under the type designation AM 50, are still active in the OKD mines.
