The Board of Directors of OKD has adopted a Company code of ethics that is obligatory for all the employees of the firm. It defines basic values and attitudes to enterprise that OKD conforms to in the course of its business activities.
The code of ethics is not any binding rule of law or internal directive, it represents, however, a moral obligation for each employee of OKD.
Coal is often associated with the outdated orientation of the economy towards heavy industry, obsolete practices and environmental burden. In fact, already these days there is growing demand for high-quality coal relevant to metallurgy due to high demand for metal and other raw materials in the quickly developing Asian economies. Its role in the world economy will be increasingly more significant with the dwindling reserves of oil and natural gas and with the development of high-quality liquid and gaseous fuels produced from coal.
Mining, processing and sale of coal is the main, however not the only mission of the OKD company. One of the biggest private employers in the Czech Republic and one of the largest economic entities in the region the company has a significant impact on the landscape, the environment, employment as well as the everyday lives of the region’s inhabitants. The main motives behind the activities of OKD are responsibility, prosperity, stability a progresiveness. This effort is also reflected in the company code of ethics OKD.
