A 32-year-old miner was fatally injured by falling rock, approximately 980 metres underground. Despite the fast medical intervention from the Main Mine Rescue Station was unable to save him. The causes of this extraordinary event are being explored by an investigative committee of experts comprising representatives of the District Mining Office in Ostrava, the Police of the Czech Republic, the management of Karvina Mine, OKD and the trade unions.
