Ostrava (March 4th, 2008) – The new OKD Foundation, established earlier this year by the joint-stock company OKD, will provide long-term support mainly to the best and most needed project in the Moravian-Silesian Region. As its founder, OKD will allocate CZK 73 million to the foundation this year, but there will be other sponsors as well, including NWR, RPG RE and OKD Doprava. The foundation will sponsor mainly health care and social project, regional and environmental development and programmes in support of education, culture and social life. OSTRAVA (February 28, 2008) – Today the Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO-Chief Executive Director of the company OKD Dr.-Ing. Klaus-Dieter Beck, has removed PhDr. Jiřina Ledvinová at her own request from the position of Director of the Department of Human Resources. A reason for the resignation were different opinions to the strategy of the personnel development of the Company. “We wish Mrs. Ledvinová all the best and a lot of success in her further professional life,“ said the Chief Executive Office and Chairman of the Board of Directors of OKD, Dr.-Ing Klaus-Dieter Beck.

OSTRAVA 11th February – The company OKD recorded a good start in 2008. In January, the output of 1,236 million tons was achieved in five coalmines, i.e. by 15.5 % more in comparison with the last year. “The original plan was estimated about 1,1 million tons. Sponsor contributions and gifts helped already many non-profit organizations in Moravia-Silesia region, and in additional to it the company is increasing the total amount every year. Ostrava – In January OKD mining company launched a new chapter of its web pages (www.okd.cz) focusing on the power engineering policy of European Union. OSTRAVA, January 7, 2008 – Management of OKD company and Trade Union representatives signed the 2008 Supplement to the OKD Collective Agreement in the company residence today. The CA was concluded in 2005 for three years, so it is effective by the end of this year. Employees’ wages will increase by 7 percent in OKD in 2008. In addition, if satisfactory profits area achieved, average monthly earnings will raise even more to make it four percent higher than inflation.... more
OSTRAVA, December 4, 2007 - The planned investments of the company OKD in mining technologies of approx. EUR 300 mil. (more than CZK 8 mld.) will result, in addition to the higher productivity, also to the improved safety for miners working deep under the ground surface. New technologies will also enable to exploit up to now hardly ever accessible coal stocks. ”The mining has been gradually moved in bigger depths where the pressure of surrounding rocks has been increasing. When mining the coal there, supports of high load bearing capacity should be used,“ explained the Technical Director of OKD, Mr.Jan Matula.

OSTRAVA, November 21, 2007 – In January 2008, the mine company OKD is going to initiate activities of its Foundation which will support charity projects, sport, ecology, education, science and research and also culture. Most finance will be allocated to projects in the Moravia-Silesia region, approximately one fifth of the means will be intended to support other business plans within the whole Czech Republic. ”OKD supports interesting long-term projects, in this year, for instance, it will provide more than CZK 35 mil. for sponsorship activities. OSTRAVA, 19 November 2007 - The company OKD, a. s., which is the biggest producer of bituminous coal in the Czech Republic, today has presented its plan for implementation of a large-scale investment program in a value of approx. The Board of Directors of OKD has adopted a Company code of ethics that is obligatory for all the employees of the firm. It defines basic values and attitudes to enterprise that OKD conforms to in the course of its business activities.
The code of ethics is not any binding rule of law or internal directive, it represents, however, a moral obligation for each employee of OKD.
