Mining Museum

znakhmo.jpgThe premises of Landek Park and the Mining Museum form a unique complex. It isa multi-purpose site suitable for sports events, company and social events, visits to unique expositions including visits down the mine and hiking trails in the nature reserve. It is located on the northwest outskirts of Ostrava in the (near the palnned highway D47).

 

Together with the museum, Landek is on the official list of Czech Republic landmarks to be recorded in the UNESCO list of world heritage sites by 2008.

 

 

The company VÍTKOVICE HOLDING, a part of the engineering group VÍTKOVICE MACHINERY GROUP started managing the Mining Museum from 1 June 2010. The mining company OKD, which previously managed the Museum, will continue contributing to the activities of the institution. ... more

  • exposition: yearly Mon - Sun 9 am - 6 pm
  • premises: yearly Mon - Sun 9 am - 8 pm

How to get here

  • from the Central bus station: by tram no. 1, 2 and 8 in the direction „Hlavní nádraží“ to  "Muglinovská", then by buses no. 34, 52, 67, 68 and 73 to the stop "Hornické muzeum"
  • from the Main train station: by tram no. 1, 2 and 8 to "Muglinovská", then by buses no. 34, 52, 67, 68 and 73 to the stop "Hornické muzeum"
  • from the Ostrava Svinov train station: by bus no. 56 in the direction Hlučín to "Hornické muzeum"
  • from the Ostrava Mošnov airport: by the bus line "Ostrava-Nový Jičín-Ostrava to Ostrava/ÚAN
  • by car: from the centre of Ostrava in the direction Hlučín, behind the bridge over the D74 highway and the river Odra turn right in the direction of Petříkovice and then follow the signs

The Board of Directors of OKD has adopted a Company code of ethics that is obligatory for all the employees of the firm. It defines basic values and attitudes to enterprise that OKD conforms to in the course of its business activities.
