OSTRAVA/BRIGHTON - Children of employees who suffered fatal injuries at work are taken care of by the St. Barbara Civic Association, until they complete their preparations for entering a job or profession – and it is precisely their education that the Association regards as first and foremost. This is why this year, the Association paid the costs of a four-week language course held in England, on behalf of four young ladies and one young man who previously had been receiving subsidies mainly toward their teaching aids or club activities.
„The one-month stay abroad gave me as much as a full year of English studies at a Czech school,“ assessed her stay Hanka Jarochová, one of the participants in the course. In addition to receiving formal language training she was able also to perfect her language skills by contact with a local family with whom she had accommodation, as well as during her weekend trips to the most attractive localities at Brighton and London.
„I regard highly the assistance of all those who have been supporting us. Not just of the staff members of Barborka but also of all OKD employees as well as of other companies that support the activities of the Association,“ Hanka expressed her feelings on behalf of all attendees of the training course.
