KARVINÁ – The second best Czech hospital arranged for two gifts at once for its patients at this year's Christmas. Karviná Miners Hospital (Czech abbreviation, KHN) having vindicated its accreditation status amounts to a guarantee of superior, ever improving care for its patients, and launching new ambulances in the reconstructed third floor B wing of its main building amounts to a promise of greater comfort during medical examinations and other interventions.
KHN was issued with the „Accredited medicare institution“ award in 2005. Three years later, it had to re-certify. „We have succeeded, but we feel re-accreditation proved to be even more demanding that the first accreditation that entitled to the certificate. Logically, the requirements to be met in the area of patient care keep mounting. The reason is that the standard once attained not only has to be maintained, but is expected to keep upgrading permanently,“ explained Anna Sekaninová who is Quality Manager.
The inspectors from the CR Joint Accreditation Commission took two days to do all their „checking and re-checking“ at the KHN. They were very thorough, mainly in respect of the accuracy of documentation records. They were also concerned with upholding the patients' rights, with the quality of the care extended to patients, and with verification of the diagnostic procedures employed.
The fact that new ambulances have been launched is closely connected with the trend embarked on and pursued at the KHN! Within a relatively brief space of time they have set up modern and, at the same time, aesthetically pleasing rooms and facilities for the reception of neurology patients, neurosonology, EEG examinations, infusion therapy, and dressing and bandaging room for Spinal and locomotive surgery. All these new ambulances will become fully operational as of 5 January, 2009.
