General inspection at Lazy Site: Safety is ensured

10.8.2009

KARVINÁ – The results of the general inspection performed by the Czech Mining Authority at Lazy Site, Karviná Mine as well as the outcomes of the complex health inspection performed by the Regional Health Authority were eagerly awaited and confirmed again that there is no room for any disarray at OKD mines. The in-depth inspection held at Lazy Site confirmed that the company provides extraordinary attention to work safety and health protection lately.

Within the CMA general inspection, mining experts checked all active work sections underground and on the surface at Lazy Site. They carried out altogether 21 inspection trips finding (only) 24 issues. Most of them (13) were found in the area of transportation and mechanical equipment. However, they never found any defects that would require the work sections to be put out of operation.

The inspection on health protection performed by seven experts from the Regional Health Authority of the Moravian-Silesian Region showed similar outcomes. The citation reports referred to 5 citations only, of which 2 were immediately remedied. The inspectors did not find any reason to impose a fine.
