The Board of Directors of OKD has adopted a Company code of ethics that is obligatory for all the employees of the firm. It defines basic values and attitudes to enterprise that OKD conforms to in the course of its business activities.
The code of ethics is not any binding rule of law or internal directive, it represents, however, a moral obligation for each employee of OKD.
OSTRAVA – From September until mid January, the Main Mine Rescue Service workers replaced 8,600 personal lamps by the state-of-the-art lamp type T 1005.01 in the individual mines. The replacement has already been completed in the Paskov Mine, and is in progress in the other mines now.
“From September 2008 until mid January 2010, we replaced a total of 8,600 pieces. There are still 7,400 lamps to be replaced,” specified Tadeáš Sikora, an employee of the Main Mine Rescue Service, Mine Luminaire Department. Since the new lamps are provided with integrated charging heads and it was necessary to buy different charging stands, it also called for reconstruction in the individual lamp rooms.
The Paskov Mine was the first mine where such steps were taken - due to its specific conditions, mainly due to its low seams and frequent movement of working parties from one location to another one. “A miner only moves with his lamp. The stands continue to be used and are more compact in comparison with the old ones. The charging stand supply voltage is not 380 volts any more, but 230 volts,” continued Sikora.
New Models in Individual Mines
Paskov Mine: 2,800 (1,900 in Staříč, 900 in Chlebovice) – replacement completed
Karviná Mine: 2,800 (2,100 in Lazy – replacement completed, 700 in ČSA)
Darkov Mine: 1,500
ČSM Mine: 1,500
The new lamps are half-times lighter and substantially smaller, and also feature a safety advantage. “They use dry NiMh storage cells which need not be refilled. As such, there are no more any lye burns pending, which used to happen when miners were moving through low seams,” said Sikora. The maintenance is also different – it is necessary to particularly clean the charging head contacts.
The Main Mine Rescue Service members directly participated, together with the Czech manufacturer from Otovice, in the T 1005.01 Lamp development. The Main Mine Rescue Service took over the lamp rooms in 2000 and immediately started to upgrade them. At first, the conventional bulbs were replaced by halogen ones. Afterwards, the halogen bulbs were replaced by LED diodes. The current models provided with LEDs and dry storage cells represent the upgrading top.
