Safety in 2009
Dear colleagues,
We are now two weeks into the economically challenging year 2009 and we have already experienced a fatal accident. I would like to take the opportunity to ask every single one of you working underground or at the surface to stay on a high alert regarding safety. With every single step we should ask ourselves: Are we doing it safely? If not, we should reconsider how to do our job and then do it in the safest manner. We should also ask: Is the colleague next to me doing his job safely? If not, we should advise him to do things safely.
We can spend more and more money in equipment, in personal safety protection gear, in training programs and in expensive consulting assistance. Yet, in our business there will always remain a rest risk factor, which we need to eliminate with our behavior.
With this appeal today I am requesting highest attention from everybody to work safely and to take care of each other. Our company is facing an extremely difficult year in 2009 but safety has to remain as the most important issue for everybody of us. Thank you for your understanding and support. I am counting on it.

Company code of ethics
The Board of Directors of OKD has adopted a Company code of ethics that is obligatory for all the employees of the firm. It defines basic values and attitudes to enterprise that OKD conforms to in the course of its business activities.
The code of ethics is not any binding rule of law or internal directive, it represents, however, a moral obligation for each employee of OKD.
