ČSM MINE – The working party, led by Roman Valchař, Senior Foreman, and mining coal at Coalface 402 302/1, South Mining Plant of ČSM Mine, while using high complex machinery, has been provided with distinctive and noticeable safety elements under POP 2010 Programme. The safety elements comprise information panels and stop-lights, indicating the sign of “no entry” into any “endangered area” for example when a shearer loader is moving or sections are being relocated. It is an innovation in the OKD Mine District! And also one of the good ideas registered within the Continuous Improvement Project.... more
OSTRAVA – From September until mid January, the Main Mine Rescue Service workers replaced 8,600 personal lamps by the state-of-the-art lamp type T 1005.01 in the individual mines. The replacement has already been completed in the Paskov Mine, and is in progress in the other mines now.... more
ORLOVÁ – A modern cleaning line which has been in operation in the Service Centre (the Lazy Mine) since October 30, will significantly increase the quality and improve the working conditions in the field of the preparation of the mining machinery for repair.... more
OSTRAVA – Exactly thirteen thousand new Dräger OXY K 50 S German-made self-rescuer devices are currently employed in the OKD mining district. They are used in the mines by miners in all the pits with the exception of the Paskov Mine where so far it was handed out to the technicians only. OSTRAVA – The opening of the 4th International Conference of the International Mines Rescue Body (IMRB), hosted on September 21 – 25 by the Main Mines Rescue Station (HBZS) in Ostrava, was successful and, especially, industrious. OSTRAVA – OKD succeeds in improving the occupational health and safety results. Last year, the number of registered injuries decreasedfrom 519 to 416, i.e. by 19.85 percent, and during the first half-year of 2009, 166 work injuries have only been registered in all the work areas of OKD. In comparison with the same period of 2008, when 210 work injuries were registered, it represents a decrease of 44 injuries, which represents a 21 percent improvement.... more
KARVINÁ – The results of the general inspection performed by the Czech Mining Authority at Lazy Site, Karviná Mine as well as the outcomes of the complex health inspection performed by the Regional Health Authority were eagerly awaited and confirmed again that there is no room for any disarray at OKD mines. OSTRAVA – Heat, humidity, wind – these have been the age-long enemies of the miners. If they exceed their applicable limits in the mine, the mine must allow the miners to have a break, even a repeated one, after a specific period of time worked. Each such break must be 30 minutes long. Therefore, the miners fight a fierce battle with the bad microclimatic conditions. They endeavour to protect people’s health, save the working time and achieve higher productivity.... more
OSTRAVA – Last year, OKD launched a programme to increase occupational and operational safety, known as “SAFETY 2010”, which comprises regular workforce trainings focusing on occupational safety and hygiene, as well as renovation of existing and purchases of new personal protection articles and aids, and which requires substantial outlays.... more

The Board of Directors of OKD has adopted a Company code of ethics that is obligatory for all the employees of the firm. It defines basic values and attitudes to enterprise that OKD conforms to in the course of its business activities.
The code of ethics is not any binding rule of law or internal directive, it represents, however, a moral obligation for each employee of OKD.
