OSTRAVA – Like vitaminization in the mines or not, this three-month experimental campaign has been running in our coalfield from this year January, the preceding year alike. The coal getting, preparatory and transport staff are given five tablets of Juwital C, with 100 mg of vitamin C in each tablet, once a week. Their everyday consumption should increase their immunity partially and improve prevention of respiratory diseases and flu epidemics.... more
OSTRAVA – Supplies of personal protection articles and technical working aids to all mines will continue throughout this year as well. For example, the company management will buy 10,000 pairs of boots, 55,000 T-shirts, 20,000 shirts, 11,000 heavy-duty trousers and 5,000 helmets with a new shield.... more
LAZY – Eight large crates appeared in the lamp room of the Karviná Mine’s Lazy Shaft. They contained new OXY K50S/AS self-rescue breathing apparatuses (“masks” in the vernacular of miners) manufactured by Dräger, Germany, which will replace existing Ukrainian ŠSS 1/PV models that have been in service for close to nine years.... more
OSTRAVA – Compared to 2007, key safety indicators and injury incidence rates at OKD (including employees of contractors) showed positive trends last year. In 2008, there was a significant year-on-year decline of registered injuries at work, from 519 in 2007 to 416 in 2008, i.e. 20 percent less. The otherwise positive results were somewhat tainted by seven fatal injuries.... more

PASKOV MINE - The new vehicle made available recently to the rescue crew of Paskov Mine has not seen any „live action“ yet, so it shows an imaginary zero on its speedometer. This is an extended version of Volkswagen Crafter van worth more than a million, which only arrived in its garage at Chlebovice shaft near Frýdek-Místek for the first time on Friday, November 7. May it stay at a standstill there as long as possible!... more
OSTRAVA – In our mining district, the progress of the Production Optimization Program up to the year 2010 (POP 2010), which consists primarily in modernizing coal extraction as well as driving work at all OKD mines, proceeds hand in hand with replacements of our miners' protective and personal work aids. During the period of two years, this process will entail costs of half a billion Czech korunas.... more
Safety and health protection of employees keeps being OKD's first priority. Therefore, the company’s management has prepared, in cooperation with the trade union, the "SAFETY 2010" Programme, which should provide for further improvement of occupational safety.... more

The Board of Directors of OKD has adopted a Company code of ethics that is obligatory for all the employees of the firm. It defines basic values and attitudes to enterprise that OKD conforms to in the course of its business activities.
