The Board of Directors of OKD has adopted a Company code of ethics that is obligatory for all the employees of the firm. It defines basic values and attitudes to enterprise that OKD conforms to in the course of its business activities.
The code of ethics is not any binding rule of law or internal directive, it represents, however, a moral obligation for each employee of OKD.
The European Commission has approved a proposal for a Council Regulation on State aid to facilitate the closure of loss-making hard coal mines in the EU by 1st October 2014. Any further operating aid to the sector will be conditional on the presentation of a closure plan for the loss-making mines. The Member States concerned will be able to assist with the counselling and training of the affected workers and ensuring that the mining sites are properly cleaned up and safe.... more
On energy, the Council reached a political agreement on the proposal for a Council regulation concerning the notification to the Commission of investment projects in energy infrastructure within the European Union;adopted conclusions on the Strategic Energy Technology Plan(SET-Plan);heard a presentation from the Commission of its communication "EUROPE 2020" and held an exchange of views on energy issues on the basis of that communication, in order to prepare its contribution to the European Council of 25 and 26 March. Overview of the agenda of the Energy Council
The Council is expected to reach political agreement on a regulation concerning the notification to the Commission of investment projects in energy infrastructure within the European Community (6502/10). The aim of the proposal is to bring more transparency to the process of investment in energy infrastructure, by generating more and better data and therefore improving coordination between Member States concerned and at Community level.... more

The European Commission, along with leaders from 22 world countries, explored today the best ways to accelerate the commercialisation of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) at the 3 rd Ministerial Meeting of the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF) in London. Carbon capture and storage is a technology that allows reduction of fossil fuel emissions by capturing CO2 from large emitters (such as coal or gas power plants and the steel industry) and store it underground.
