The World Coal Institute (WCI) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation of coal enterprises and associations - the only international body working on a worldwide basis on behalf of the coal industry.
Membership of WCI is open to coal enterprises and associations from anywhere in the world, with member companies represented at Chief Executive level.
The objectives of WCI are to:
WCI was founded by coal producers in September 1985. Originally called The International Coal Development Institute, the name was changed to the World Coal Institute in 1988. The Institute was established to provide a forum for the exchange of information and the discussion of challenges relating to the coal industry. This role continues to the present day.

The Board of Directors of OKD has adopted a Company code of ethics that is obligatory for all the employees of the firm. It defines basic values and attitudes to enterprise that OKD conforms to in the course of its business activities.
The code of ethics is not any binding rule of law or internal directive, it represents, however, a moral obligation for each employee of OKD.
