An extraordinary event at the coal preparation plant at the ČSM mine

OSTRAVA (17th February 2014) – On Sunday afternoon, an extraordinary event happened on the grounds of coal preparation plant at the ČSM mine. A sixty year old employee was found with no signs of life buried under the layer of coal in one of the loaded wagons.

 

The missing employee was reported after the end of the morning shift. Mining rescue squad and Police of the Czech Republic were call in. The man was around 6 p.m., the HBZS physician pronounced him dead due to injuries not compatible with life.

 

„On behalf of OKD, a.s. and all the employees and myself, I would like to send our condolences to the family, close friends of the deceased colleague,“ Director of Coal Preparation Plant, Václav Kabourek said.

 

Causes of the extraordinary event are now being investigated by an expert committee consisting of the representatives of the Mining District Authority in Ostrava, management of the Preparation Plant Operation, OKD management and the Trade Unions in cooperation with the Police of the Czech Republic.
