Jánošík´s Ducat Festival: Slovak folklore, Butter Churning Championship, School of Pastoral Musical Instruments Playing and Sheltered Workshops

ROŽNOV POD RADHOŠTĚM (August 1, 2012) – This weekend, the Wallachian Open Air Museum at Rožnov pod Radhoštěm plans another treat: from Friday to Sunday, it will host an international festival of Slovak folklore in the Czech Republic, the Jánošík´s Ducat Festival. In addition to performances by 24 folk ensembles, the festival will also offer a few innovations, such as the sale of products made by the disabled in sheltered workshops; they will present themselves at the event thanks to the general partner of the festival, the OKD company.

At Rožnov, the festival visitors can support a good cause e.g. by purchasing a ceramic or textile product from the Opava Charity or products of the “Happy Home“ Honey Workshop. OKD and its foundation have been involved in work integration of the handicapped for several years. “For example, this year we have donated over six million Czech crowns for the development of sheltered workshops. At the same time, we realize that the ability to take hold on the market is even more important than money, therefore, we arrange participation of sheltered workshop in events where they can sell their products and establish new contacts,“ said the director of the OKD Foundation, Jiří Suchánek.

Organizers promise entertainment for virtually all generations. “Who tires of folklore, can learn how to play the shepherd's pipe or the flute at the school of pastoral musical instruments. For talented children, we have prepared a singing competition. The Butter Churning Championship of the Wallachian Kingdom will certainly be another big attraction, too,“ explained festival director Vlastimil Fabišík.
