The Miners´ Festival continues in Staříč over the weekend

Ostrava (September 10, 2009) – One week after the “united“ Miners´ Festival in Karviná which attracted over 12,000 visitors to the Fryštát Park last weekend,  the celebrations of the Miners´ Day move on to the sports facility on a hill in Staříč. Thus, on September 12, the Paskov Mine will be the only one to have its own Miners´ Day celebration.

This year’s entire event shall be held in the spirit of revivals. Hence, on the Staříč playing field, the audience will watch the “Liverpool Beatles“ as well as the Kabáty rock band, as performed by top imitators of these famous and popular bands.

The programme will be complemented by František Nedvěd and his band, and with the already traditional show of the lovely majorettes. We can be looking forward to other attractions as well – to a disco, to competitions and, of course, to lots of good food and the Nošovice beer.

“The Miners´ Day is one of the favourite events held in Staříč. On a regular basis, it is attended by thousands of people who come both to have fun and, at the same time, to pay tribute to the demanding mining profession. The celebration is not intended only for our employees and their families, but also for the general public with whom we wish to celebrate our day,“ Vladislav Szmek, Director of the Paskov Mine, mentioned.

Admission to the Miners´ Day celebration in Staříč is free and sponsored by the Staříč Coal Pit. However, next to the entrance, a moneybox will be placed where it will definitely be appropriate to stop. It will belong to the St. Barbora Civic Association and it will serve to collect funds for miners´ orphans. On the day of the celebrations, a visit to the Paskov training gallery will be free too; however, those interested must inform the Paskov Mine trade unions organisation in advance at 558 492 740.

“A shuttle service between Frýdek-Místek, Ostrava and Havířov, and the sports facility will be provided. The Paskov Mine staff will readily inform you about its timetable at 558 492 783. We are convinced that our event will be a continuation of the Miners´ Festival held in Karviná last week and that it will be as successful,“ Mr. Szmek added.
