The winner of the OKD Colours Photo Contest will get a photo pass to the Colours of Ostrava Festival

OSTRAVA (4th June 2008) – OKD, the key partner of the Colours of Ostrava Festival, has announced a big photo contest for its employees and all the keen amateur photographers in June. On top of two permanent passes to the Colours of Ostrava Festival, the contest winner shall also obtain a pass into the world of great photographers and celebrities – the so-called Festival Photo Pass permitting the entry to areas where the audience has no access.

And the task for the OKD Colours Contest participants is so easy. A photo on any topic capturing the colours of the region where the mining company operates needs to be sent to the email address Photos may include portraits, landscapes as well as reportage shots.

“Though marked by mining activities, there are many beautiful and photogenic sites in the Ostrava and Karviná districts. With many beautiful people as well. And for sure there are many photographers who have not had an opportunity to express themselves yet. Now they got the chance,” Mrs. Petra Mašínová, OKD CPRO, introduced the contest.

Besides the first award, the contest organizers will also distribute awards to other contest participants, mostly permanent passes to the Colours of Ostrava Festival, tickets for the performances held at Silesian Ostrava Castle during the Summer Shakespeare Festival and “Ostrava for everybody!” photo books. OKD will also publish the best photos in the company weekly Horník, on its web pages and directly at the Colours of Ostrava Festival. The contest closing date is 30th June, more information to be found at
