OKD comes second in the 2009 TOP Philanthropist Competition and also won the “Jumper of the Year“ award


Praha/Ostrava (November 10, 2009) – The OKD mining company came second in the prestigious 2009 TOP Corporate Philanthropist competition that ranks companies according to the donations given by them for public benefit purposes. Since last year, OKD distributes these donations via its corporate foundation. Most of OKD miners already own new protection aids


Ostrava (October 22, 2009) – The Safety 2010 Project launched by the management of the OKD mining company with the aim to equip the miners with state-of-the-art working aids and to increase safety at work is approaching its end. New mine clothes, fatigue boots with stiffened foreparts, personal lamps, shirts with reflective stripes and other working aids are already used by over a half of the miners; other deliveries to individual pits will arrive in the weeks to come. OSTRAVA (9 October 2009) – The mining company OKD has achieved success with its communication projects at the international festival in Portoroz, Slovenia.  For its 2008 recruitment campaign, the company obtained the prestigious Golden Drum award, beating 116 projects from around the globe. The company’s information campaign on publicly beneficial activities and on the founding of the OKD Foundation reached the finals in the Public Relations category. Mine rescuers' world conference is trying to find recipes for safe mining
