Ostrava (31st August 2008) – The evaluation of sweet cakes in the competition “Sweeten the children’s life” the proceeds of which are supposed to support the St. Barbora Civic Association, opened into a very interesting situation. Whereas Mr. Evžen Tošenovský, Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region, voted for the poppy-seed “Prussian cake”, his wife Drahomíra Tošenovská who was at the same time the chairwoman of the jury got her way and with the help of other jury members awarded the first prize to the “Countess’ cake” baked by Věra Halvová from Paskov…

31st August 2008, Ostrava – A record-breaking distance of 409 kilometers – that is exactly the number of kilometers the visitors of OKD Mining Festival rode on the exercise bikes on Saturday. OKD Foundation promised to transfer one hundred Czech crowns per each kilometer to the bank account of the St. Barbora Civic Association (SBCA). And, as the result exceeded any record achieved so far, the Foundation decided to double the funds to CZK 80,000…
