Ostrava (28 August 2009) –  In the period of 20 – 24 September 2009, the Ostrava Region will be a venue of the biggest and most significant world conference dedicated to the mine rescue work - 4th International Conference of the International Mines Rescue Body (IMRB).  For five days, the Region will thus  become a  home for 107 delegates from 20 countries. The prestigious event with this focus, which will be organized by OKD, HBZS, a subsidiary company of OKD, a hard coal mining company, will be held in the Czech Republic for the first time ever…

Drinking water supplies from Lubina cannot be resumed yet

Ostrava, Frenštát pod Radhoštěm (27 August 2009) – Since the storm rainfalls occurred this June, water in the Lubina reservoir at the Frenštát Mine site has been permanently polluted and cannot be used as drinking water. OKD, as the Operator of the Water Treatment Plant for water from this water reservoir has therefore notified the relevant governmental authorities that it is not able to supply drinking water as the utility to the town of Frenštát pod Radhoštěm…
