ČSM MINE – The working party, led by Roman Valchař, Senior Foreman, and mining coal at Coalface 402 302/1, South Mining Plant of ČSM Mine, while using high complex machinery, has been provided with distinctive and noticeable safety elements under POP 2010 Programme. The safety elements comprise information panels and stop-lights, indicating the sign of “no entry” into any “endangered area” for example when a shearer loader is moving or sections are being relocated. It is an innovation in the OKD Mine District! And also one of the good ideas registered within the Continuous Improvement Project.... more

KARVINÁ – This long and cold winter prepared a real trial by fire for the Coal Preparation Plant personnel. The railway tracks flooded again and again by terrible snow downpours, flooded and frozen switches, snow and frost  - these are certainly not the conditions that the outdoor operation personnel would long to have.... more

Ostrava – This year, the Saint Barbara's Civic Association will primarily focus on health care for children whose one of the parents died in work-related accidents that involved a member company of the association. The board approved the so-called health care clause, which e.g. provides for the payment for one dose of the cervical cancer vaccine or of an annual allowance for preventive care of up to 1,000 crowns. It will also cover half of the cost of the braces or other expensive medical devices as Vladislav Sobol, the President of the Association, informed the annual meeting yesterday.... more

STONAVA – First of all, proper mining skills and then also, noble-mindedness were demonstrated by the Rostislav Špalek’s mining party from the northern mining plant of ČSM Mine. Using really historical technologies, the mining party has achieved, in Mine Face 300 211, the first standard of the Stonava Mine this year and has decided to share the bonus received for this performance with “Barborka”, (i.e. St. Barbara Civil Association).... more

STONAVA (9 February 2010) – The OKD Central Training Centre, where the company started to train miners and other employees, means literally a revolution in the mining company’s training system. Whereas not long ago, training courses were held on the premises of the individual mines or external trainers, and the main teaching materials were films recorded on video-tapes, OKD currently trains its employees in the new Central Training Centre on the Darkov Mine premises, which is equipped with interactive boards and computer terminals.... more

OSTRAVA – Iron, iron and again iron - this is probably the most frequently used material in our hard coal underground mines. We meet with iron at every turn on the surface premises and underground. Shaft head frames, ropes, rails, locomotives, piping, supports, cutter loaders, conveyors, structures ... It is therefore quite logical that it is necessary to rationally manage such a precious, renewable material, including any discarded idle iron material designed for scrapping.... more

OSTRAVA – The children must not feel any crisis, and this principle applies even more to those from “Barborka” (i.e. St. Barbara Civil Association). Therefore, the St. Barbara Civil Association prepares, together with the Mother’s Committee, shared events and new contributions to particularly help the neediest people. Apart from the traditional supports for education, the St. Barbara Civil Association wants to help mothers with covering the increasing health care costs.... more

OSTRAVA – From September until mid January, the Main Mine Rescue Service workers replaced 8,600 personal lamps by the state-of-the-art lamp type T 1005.01 in the individual mines. The replacement has already been completed in the Paskov Mine, and is in progress in the other mines now.... more
